​​​St. Francis Xavier Church

Meets regularly monthly and visits the sick and homebound either in their residences or at the Retirement and Convalescent Homes. They bear Holy Communion and gifts of companionship and compassion.  As Christians, we are called to the task of healing and comforting.  New members are always welcome to this ministry.  If you can spare a few hours a month to share God’s love and care with the sick and homebound, please call the rectory at (213) 626-2279.

Auxiliary’s mission is to provide service to the Parish to and its surrounding community, while encouraging the development of Parish growth and participation through spiritual and social activities in alignment with Church Teachings. Auxiliary fulfills its Mission by fully supporting Parish activities and events which develop stronger parish, community, and personal relationships for the greater good of the Parish in an friendly and welcoming environment for all.  Membership in our organization is open to all parishioners of St. Francis Xavier Chapel.

Youth Group is composed of young people 13-25 years of age who are committed to supporting spiritual and social activities of the Parish. The youth group was organized by its youth leadership and under the guidance of committed adult advisors.  The youth are encouraged to be fully engaged in the organization, following the Teachings of the Church.  Youth Group isn’t just about community service, it includes “fun time” for picnics, beach parties, dances, movies, outings, etc. Membership is open to any Parish youth 13 to 25 years of age.

Boy Scout Troop #145 was founded by the Maryknoll Fathers over 80 years ago and continues to meet weekly at SFXCJCC on Friday evenings.  If your son is interested in joining the Boy Scouts, please come and visit the Scout Troops on Friday evenings at 7:30 p.m. in the upstairs clubroom.

One of our oldest service organizations. The group welcomes women of all ages who are interested in serving our community and supporting the various SFXC programs designed to strengthen and unite our parish. The program consists of various social activities, participation in SFXC fundraisers, and workshops to stock their annual boutique.  Interested individuals are always welcomed to join us.

Is open to women and men of all ages who want to learn new arts & crafts skills, practice or share skills you have, or simply to socialize.  In addition, it is involved in community service projects as well as religious and social activities.

Is an organization of Japanese speaking families which provides service to the Parish by its Sunday Coffee and Donut “toban” and volunteer service for Parish activities and events.  It supports Parish spiritual and social activities.  They also provide camaraderie among those in the parish who have more facility with the Japanese language.  Membership is open to those seeking a Japanese speaking environment.

The Maryknoll Karate Club welcomes everyone to join and learn the martial art of Shotokan Karate in the tradition established by Sensei Tsutomu Ohshima.  Shotokan Karate has been taught at Maryknoll since 1963.  Classes are open to men, women, girls and boys, ages 10 and up.  BEGINNERS WELCOME!
